Originally trained in UK as a statistician, my first experience of CCs was in Bangladesh, where I introduced a Community Currency based on plastic bottle top lids! In the last few years, my research for Altruists International into altruism has lead me towards the money system as a main factor behaind the fear of scarcity which drives people against one another. I am leading development of a non zero-sum internet gift economy.

I think we need to get away from the abstracted 'market', and explore people-centred alternatives that deal with the connections between people and operate on a social network, valuing relationships.
