Definition proposal
Tacit knowledge is knowledge we don't know that we know.
Discussion
Driving a car, reading a phone bill, walking in the subway or surfing on the Net are all
tacit knowledge about which we have little awareness because they are distilled in our daily gesture. We would be more aware of it if someone from the Middle-Age were teleported in our age — or if we were ourself sent into the Middle-Age. Both spatio-temporalized guinea-pigs would be in trouble when evolving in these societies unknown by them because they would lack this tacit knowledge that makes life possible.
Tacit knowledge is too elusive to be expressed and transported through classical media.
No theory of
Collective Intelligence should ignore it.
Tacit knowledge is explored through abundant litterature and research work. The best to begin with would be by listing key introductory links.
