Here is a shortlist of our objectives at TheTransitioner. It is not exhaustive and will be defined by the participants along the way. In order to reach these objectives, a
projects list is regularly updated.
Important: whatever directions our projects take, let's keep this list simple and easy to remember.
1 – Make Open Source and Socioeconomic communities meet
- On the other hand the new interest-free monetary systems used by the socioeconomy need to be sustained by collective intelligence methodologies and technologies to be viable and sustainable on a large scale.
At TheTransitioner we work on this cross-fertilization because we believe this is where the critical mass to economic transformation relies.

2 – Write an Open Source Money Manifesto
Today money is private, artificially made scarce, generating horrifying inequalities because of the interest (among other reasons), catalysing egoistic and destructive behaviors, centralized in non-democratic powers, managed by minorities that jealously maintain their privileges. The Manifesto
? declares the right of citizens to define, issue and use public currencies architectured upon collective requirements.

3 – Design and Launch Open Source Money
Money is missing, money is scarce. Which money by the way?
National Currencies of course! What prevents a large and diverse enough number of players to create their own currency that is built on shared value territories?
Open source Money is a top priority.

4 – Build Open Source market platforms
These platforms already exist. They have names such as
Sourceforge.net
for open source software projects, or
eBay
for people-to-people selling. The aim here is to take up the principles and adapt them to
socioeconomy and
knowledge economy.

5 – Raise Knowledge Ecosystems up to real Knowledge Economies
Open source software movement as well as the many thinking and action streams initated by
Cultural Creatives in the Cyberspace cannot work within the classic
Economy frame and its related
national currencies based on competition and scarcity. The
knowledge socioeconomy, built on the paradigm of abundance and collaboration, is the right candidate to transform current
knowledge ecosystems into a real
knowledge economy with its related currency system. Barriers are mostly cultural and conceptual.

6 – Develop Collective Intelligence
None of the above projects can evolve without
Collective Intelligence. Practical as well as theoretical aspects should be developed. Open source currencies
? and related platforms
? are practical aspects. Theoretical aspects are developed by the CIN
? and connected research players.

7 - Raise funds
Until proved otherwise we are not yet in the real
knowledge economy. Financing in
national currencies is necessary so that those who invest themselves full time can have a decent living for the transition time. This funding can come from diverse foundations, the EEC (which encourages this kind of initiative), corporate sponsorship and as small individual donation (small streams make mighty rivers).
