Introducing yourselfWhy introducing yourself?Yes, by the way, why create your wiki introduction page? Simply because you need to be visible to other participants and engage friendly relationships with them. Being visible to one another is the first step to our collective consciousness. And since a wiki is a place for meeting and sharing, it is anything but an anonymous area! The more participants introduce themselves in a warm and friendly manner, the better the conviviality. You can introduce yourself the way you feel like: personally, professionally, talk about your aspirations, what you like or don't like... exactly like you would present yourself in a friendly meeting. Important: don't forget to explain what brought you here. Of course this is not an obligation. What confidentiality? No information is used for anything other than the purpose of the wiki. Nothing private is asked of you. Just be natural like in real life. Is an email requested during the registration? The answer is YES because it allows individual exchange. But don't worry, you can decide whether you want to make it public or not. And if you make it public --which we advise since we are not here to hide from one another-- your email gets protected so that marketing bots cannot automatically grab it in order to junk mail you later on. Step by step1. Create your accountFirst you need to create an account, if not yet done. This is where you need to choose a login + password and provide a valid email. 2. Set your preferencesYour preferences allow you to choose your language, nationality, change your password or decide whether you want your email to be public or not, etc. You can also select an avatar or upload your picture (isn't a real face much more friendly?). Your preferences can be accessed in 2 ways:
Tip: when in Your Preferences, select Allow messages from other users. This will activate the internal messaging system, and help other participants to get in touch with you individually. Select 1 in front of the sentence Send me an email for messages with priority equal or greater than.... 3. Create your own wiki presentation pageThis is the most meaningful part of the registration process because this is where you can introduce yourself (while learning how to set up a wiki page). How to proceed? You just need to create a wiki page with your name as a title (or any other nickname you've chosen) and introduce yourself the way you feel most comfortable with. Here is the presentation page of Jean-Francois Noubel as an example, other examples can be seen at who is who. Later on you will be able to sign your posts and contributions like this: blabla your text here blabla — Jean-Francois Noubel <-- your signature Your signature inserted in the text editor is a wiki link that points to your personal wiki page. When users click on this link, they are sent to your page and can know your better. Here is how you proceed:
Last but not least you can add in your wiki profile page a link to contact you. It is very useful. Example: Send me a message. It has to be inserted like this: [tiki-user_information.php?view_user=YourLogin|Send me a message] Once displayed you see: Send me a message 4. Reference your page in the "Who's who" pageThe Who is who wiki page is the one in which all participants are listed, like in a directory. Edit this page and add your wiki profile link in it!
