Structures
The whole Global Challenges tree is managed through a tree structure. It is a powerful way to have pages organized in a tree, and generate links in automated tables of content.
The overwhole Global Challenge layout can be vizualized and edited
here. Only those who have 'Editor' rights can edit the structure. If you need to have editor's rights, please contact
Jean-François Noubel or Robert Steele
?.
Once in structure edit mode, you can insert new pages in the structure, or move existing pages up and down in the tree structure, like in any table of content.
Editing a Global Challenge wiki page
- Go to the Global challenges main page in order to see all tree structure
- Click on the page you want to edit. It will be displayed.
- Once the page is displayed, double click on it, or click on the 'Edit' button at the bottom of the page
You are then in edit mode. You can then add/remove/improve whatever content.
Using templates
A special template called 'Global challenges' can be used in edit mode. Select it if needed. It calls a predefined set of titles that will be automatically inserted in you text box. It is the skeleton of your page, you can then build the text (flesh) around it. Using a template of titles is useful because you won't forget to cover all necessary topics in that page.
Selecting categories
Each wiki page can be categorized and
should be categorized, while in edit mode. Categorizing page offers another powerful way to organize and search wiki pages. In the present context of Global Challenges, select the right category or subcategory in the list.
For instance if you are editing the page
Global Challenges: Policies: Education, you should select 'Global Challenges: Policies' as main category. Later other users can then do a search of all pages that also belong to this specific category.
More than one category can be used for a wiki page.
Don't forget to check the checkbox 'categorize this object' while in edit mode.
Inserting an automated TOC
Automated TOC (Table of Content) can be inserted in wiki pages with the command {maketoc} . This is a very useful feature when you have a long page with lots of text and titles. The TOC comes with hyperlinks that can be used as shortcuts to wherever you want to jump in the page.
